We've All Had Similar Life Experiences
Every member of our team is a certified peer recovery specialist who has personally experienced the pain of substance use or mental health challenges — or supported a loved one through it.
John Buschner
Founder & Executive Director
Recovery Coach, Family Interventionist, Habit Change Mentor
John Buschner is a certified Peer Recovery Coach in the State of New Jersey, a Certified Recovery Support Practitioner – Mental Health (CRSP), and the founder of Recovery Life Collective and Recovery Life Resources. He holds an MA in Criminology from Rutgers University and has worked in the recovery and behavioral health field for over a decade. John is an individual in long-term recovery with 7+ years of sobriety, and has dedicated his career to expanding the reach of the CRAFT method — so families can influence a loved one toward treatment through compassion and collaboration rather than the often antiquated judicial process.
Throughout his career, John has held a range of direct-service and leadership roles across the recovery field, including Volunteer Supervisor and Event Coordinator at CARES/Prevention is Key, and Director of Marketing and Communications at Hope and Serenity Recovery Community Center. He currently serves at the Center for Family Services as an Opiate Overdose Responder, Outreach Coordinator, and Family Support Assistant, working directly with individuals and families navigating the overdose crisis and connecting them to life-saving resources.
Alongside his direct-service work, John has built Recovery Life Collective and Recovery Life Resources into organizations that combine hands-on family intervention services with technology-driven recovery tools — reflecting his belief that meeting people where they are, whether in a living room during a family intervention or through a mobile app, is central to effective recovery support.
